Is Facebook damaging personal relationships?
You know sometimes ago not too long I was wondering if Facebook is not doing more than just little damage to our personal relationships.
I know its been canvassed in various quarters that Facebook and other social network sites have helped us discovered lost relationships. No doubt about this. Old school mates, childhood friends have been discovered on Facebook. New friendships have been developed. But at what damage is this to the ones who are dear to us?
My assumption as explained above evolved just immediately after the Christmas holidays. I discovered that people we ordinarily talk to on Christmas, New Year or special holidays, we rarely do any more. When I say talk to, I mean there are certain dear people who, no matter what, we find the time to call on Christmas or New Year.
However, Facebook is gradually taking the place of inter personal relationship. We are now satisfied with posting a seasonal greetings on Facebook than make personal calls to our loved ones. We assume everybody reads our status updates
Is this a wrong assumption on ny part? Or am I the one guilty of this?
